SHADIAN — THE GUARDIANS OF TIME

Four generations. One profession. One mission – to turn the hands back to perfection.

In the heart of Sofia, where minutes meet craftsmanship, begins the story of a name that carries TIME itself. A name that has become a symbol of precision, trust, and family tradition — Shadian.

It all began with Dikran Shadian — a second-generation watchmaker, just like his father. Over the years, Dikran mastered the profession to perfection, becoming one of the most respected craftsmen in the city. His skills, passed on with love and precision, laid the foundations of a name that stands as a guarantee of quality and tradition.

With incredible precision and dedication, he opened his first watchmaking workshop in the early 20th century, at the corner of Asparuh Street and Vitosha Boulevard. There, in the very pulse of the city, watches did not just tick — they told stories. Every client who crossed the threshold of the small workshop left behind a piece of their time.

After him, his son Garo Shadian took over — known as “The Lord of Time”. Garo Shadian, a third-generation watchmaker, inherited the craft and passion for watches from his father and grandfather. He knew best how to control time — with tweezers, a magnifying glass, and gears. At just ten years old, he disassembled his first watch at his father’s bench, and since then has devoted more than six decades to his greatest passion — watches.

Part of Garo’s story and words were shared in a bTV News interview:
“Everyone’s life flows by the clock. Whether you laugh or cry – time passes,” says Garo. In his small workshop, hidden among Sofia’s central streets, time seems to stop. Around him, more than a thousand watches tick — each with its own soul.

Besides mastering fine mechanisms, Garo Shadian designed and installed tower clocks on buildings, churches, community centers, and hotels throughout Bulgaria — leaving his mark in almost every Bulgarian city.

Today, the fourth generation — Dilyan Shadian — proudly continues the tradition with vision for the future. Garo and Dilyan have completed specialized training in Switzerland — the birthplace of watchmaking — to perfect their skills. In Dilyan’s hands, classic techniques meet modern technology, turning every repair into a precise work of art.

For ShadiaN, the most valuable thing is not just repairing a watch. True satisfaction comes in that moment when a watch starts ticking again — after everyone else said it was hopeless. That is the spirit of the craft — love for detail, respect for time, and mastery passed down through generations.

That’s why, when we offer watches to our customers, we don’t just sell brands or pretty showcases. We sell quality from within — mechanisms selected by watchmakers who understand what lies behind every dial. We sell reliability, precision, and a name built through decades of hard work.

We sell quality. We don’t sell names.
